Queensland
Branding Compulsory · Earmarking Optional
In Queensland, cattle weighing more than 100 kg must be branded before they are sold. Earmarking is optional; however, any earmark used must be registered and linked to your three-piece brand. Symbol brands are also optional but must be registered to a three-piece brand. Queensland symbol brands must include a dot positioned to the right of, and in line with, the base of the symbol.
What to send us: Please provide a copy of your Queensland brand registration certificate. This certificate also shows your registered earmark code and ear position, so it covers both branding iron and earmarking plier orders.

Northern Territory
Branding Compulsory · Earmarking Optional
In the Northern Territory, cattle over eight months old must be branded with a registered three-character brand, which includes the letter “T”, before leaving the property. Earmarking is optional; however, you must have a registered NT brand before applying for an earmark.
What to send us: Please provide a copy of your NT brand registration certificate. If you’re also ordering earmarking pliers, please include your separate NT Certificate of Registration of Earmark.

Western Australia
Branding Optional · Earmarking Optional
Both branding and earmarking are optional in WA. If you do register either, manage it through the WA Brands Online Portal.
What to send us: If you've registered your brand or earmark through the WA Brands Online Portal, please provide your certificate. If not, send us a clear image of your current design instead.

No Central Register
NSW doesn't have a central online register for brands or earmarks. Contact your regional Local Land Services office directly to confirm what's required.

Tasmania
Earmarking Optional
Branding and earmarking are both optional — but once a mark is applied, registering it becomes compulsory. Registration is generally held for life, and to the person rather than the property.
